3D printed Philips Hue architrave mount

hue surround

A quick post to show off my latest 3D Printed design that I have just uploaded to Thingiverse, so head there if you you want the design files to make your own. The backstory is below.

I like the Philips Hue Dimmer switch remote but the USA size mounting plate it comes with is too wide to fit on a door architrave, so I made this new one to replace a standard Australian Clipsal architrave switch plate. I have included a removable Clipsal mech mount so you can optionally hide your original master Clipsal switch underneath the Hue remote. The screw holes should line up with a 31WE or 31BL style wall plate. A central magnet holds the remote to the plate in the same way the original hue plate does. The outer surround was sanded with p180 then spray filled, sanded again with p800 and finally sprayed with “Fiddly Bits” appliance white spray paint. If I was to spray it again I would find a spray that was a bit more creamier in colour than the appliance white.

The screw on the magnet was a small countersunk screw I had lying around.
